50th Meeting of the Executive Council of Indian Geological Congress was held on 10th December, 2016 at Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd. Corporate office, under the chairmanship of Dr. Gopal Dhawan, President IGC. Indian Geological Congress is a platform for all Geoscientists of the country for new and updating information in the field of Geo-Science. After confirming the Minutes of the last Meeting, the various agendas including the deliberation conducted for the 20th Convention of IGC on “Make in India- Challenges & Opportunities for Mineral Mining & Energy Resources” to be held in October, 2017 were discussed.
The Convention will, therefore, focus on efficient methods of production & processing and technology-led exploration initiatives, automation and digitalization apart, simultaneously keeping pace with sustainable environment, to “Make in India” revolution a real success in all imperatives of steel industry.
Before the Meet, the members of the Executive Council visited the Herbal Park in MECL Campus and planted sapling in order to contribute towards the Green initiative of MECL. The dignitaries comprising the council were Prof. O.P. Varma, Executive President IGC, Prof. V.K.S. Dave, Secretary IGC, Dr. Gopal Dhawan, CMD MECL and President IGC, Prof. (Dr.) B.C. Sarkar, Dept. of Applied Geology, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad; Dr. R.K. Mahajan, Scientist/Programme Advisor, Dept. of Science & Technology, GOI.
